Hoof n Horn, the south's oldest student-run musical theatre group, is proud to present this production of Cabaret. Cabaret takes place during the early 1930s in Berlin, Germany. At this time, cabarets were filled to the brim with prostitutes, Jews, homosexuals, and others considered social outcasts by the Third Reich. The musical centers on a seedy cabaret where Sally Bowles, the headliner, and the eccentric Master of Ceremonies (Emcee) perform. Sally falls in and out of love with an American, named Cliff, who struggles to understand why anyone would want to stay in Germany under the current conditions. Sally and Cliff stay at the apartment complex run by Fräuline Schneider. Fräuline Schneider falls for the pineapple salesmen, Herr Schultz, but she breaks off her engagement to the man because he is Jewish. Everything that happens within the cabaret is satirical commentary on how the Nazi regime negatively affected life in Germany. Cabaret is a dark, raunchy, hilarious, tear-jerker of a musical. There is nothing apologetic about this phenomenal show. Cabaret will be an experience you will never forget, and don't want to miss your opportunity to see it!
