2 MembersChi Omega (Chi O)
It all began on April 5, 1895, at the University of Arkansas when four young women, with the help of a local dentist, established the secrets and symbolism that today bind over 260,000 women. This small band founded Chi Omega upon realizing a need for an organization designed to foster amongst women friendship and respect for their potential and inherent value. Over the years, Chi O has provided its members with unique opportunities in leadership, scholarship, and lifelong friendship - striving to provide each Sister with a commitment to personal integrity, excellence in academic and intellectual pursuits, intergenerational participation, community service, leadership opportunities and social enrichment.
On Duke's campus, we embody Chi O's six purposes: friendship, high standards of personnel, scholarship, community service, campus activities and career development. We are campus leaders, active in DSG, DUU and elsewhere. We are scholars. We are athletes, competing at the varsity, club and intramural levels. We are philanthropists, raising money every year for the Make-a-Wish Foundation, our national philanthropy.
But most of all, we are friends. You can find Chi O's tenting together in K-ville; dancing the night away at the White Carnation Ball, our annual spring formal; roasting marshmellows at our autumn bonfire, Harvest Moon; or just hanging out around campus.
